Tech Lead / Graphics Specialist

Position Overview:

The Tech Lead / Graphics Specialist plays a key role in Tractor Vision’s Technical Department, overseeing the production and application of graphics across all projects. This person leads the vinyl and print workflow—from prepping files to managing output to hands-on installation—while also assisting with other digital fabrication tasks. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Designers, and Fabricators to ensure graphic elements are clean, accurate, and professionally applied.

You'll be part of a creative, fast-paced team where craftsmanship and problem-solving are valued every day. This position requires strong visual attention to detail, and hands-on skill with both machines and materials. 

Key Responsibilities:

Graphics Production & Oversight

  • Lead the setup, cutting, weeding, and transfer of vinyl graphics
  • Prep files for plotting, printing, and lamination with accuracy and consistency
  • Install vinyl on scenic elements, signage, and custom surfaces on-site and in-shop
  • Maintain and troubleshoot vinyl plotters, laminators, and related equipment
  • Track and manage all graphics materials and supply inventory
  • Nest files to be cut material efficiently

Tech Support & Digital Fabrication

  • Support CNC and 3D workflows in collaboration with the Tech Manager and Leads
  • Help maintain production quality and consistency across all technical outputs
  • Produce and manage job-specific graphics kits for scenic installations
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace with clear job labeling and tracking
  • Help load/unload trucks for on-site installs

Team Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate Project Managers and Leads to clarify specs and layouts
  • Provide time estimates and technical recommendations on materials and processes
  • Train and support tech team members and apprentices on graphics tools and techniques
  • Contribute to the creation of schedules and task breakdowns for the department
  • Help with department scheduling and task prioritization
  • Build on-site kits for technical related builds 

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both the shop and on-site.
  • Perform routine maintenance on 3D printers, laser cutter, and other related tools
  • Monitor supply levels (filament, print beds, adhesives, etc.) and order as needed
  • Uphold safety and usage protocols across all technical equipment
  • Follow all company safety protocols and use proper PPE at all times.
  • Help with loading/unloading materials, organizing tools, and general shop upkeep.

Cross-Disciplinary Support:

  • Step in where needed to assist other teams or departments when asked by Foreman, Managers or Lead. This would be asked when necessary to ensure the job is completed on-time and/or to clients satisfaction.
  • Other duties may be assigned that include, but are not limited to: sanding, painting, moving props, loading trucks, etc.
  • Represent Tractor Vision’s quality standards and creative intent in every phase of the build

Installation & On-Site Work:

  • Participate in on-site installations, ensuring that all fabricated elements are installed properly and securely. 
  • Collaborate with team members to adapt to site conditions and solve unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Travel when necessary.
  • Support other teams  as needed / as directed by Project Manager and Project Lead. Always keeping in mind the Make-It-Happen attitude.

Requirements

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in vinyl graphics, signage, or print production
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and related file types (AI, PDF, EPS, SVG, DXF)
  • Strong eye for alignment, balance, and precision in layout and application
  • Hands-on experience with vinyl plotters, laminators, and application tools
  • Able to work independently and lead others through complex production tasks
  • Comfortable lifting, moving, and installing large-format graphics and scenic components
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with CNC routing, 3D printing, or other digital fabrication tools
  • Experience in live event, scenic, or experiential fabrication industry
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus

$27-$34 / Hour
